How To Reach Latur Of Latur Tourism – An Important Centre For Trade And Commerce With Rich Historical Past


Cheap Air TicketsLatur is an administrative centre along the banks of Panchganga River in the state of Maharashtra on the Deccan plateau.  Though it is an important centre for trade, the nearby places has rich historical past.  Steeped in history, all the places situated there have their own tale to tell.  Latur can be divided into the north eastern region consisting of Ahmadpur and Udgir and the Balaghat plateau.  The place is primarily known for its agricultural products like oilseeds, cereals, pulses and grapes.  The city is well-connected hence it is easily accessible with a network of buses.  Several trains pass through the major railway station of Latur. Though Latur has an airport, this is now under construction.
A very auspicious temple is the Ashtavinayak temple in the heart of Latur city which is known for its outstanding architecture and carving.  A huge two-storied structure is the famous Ganj Golai which is the central place of the city with its main building in the structure of Golai. 16 roads connect to Golai where you can find separate markets in each road is considered as one of the main commercial and trade centre of this city.
A beautiful place near Udgir is the Hattibet-Devarjan that houses a few important attractions.  Samadhi of Gangaram Maharaj is on a small hill and the main attraction of this place is cave carvings.  It is also the home of several freedom fighters of Hyderabad freedom struggle.  Sacred tomb of Hazrat Peer Pasha is near the Kharosa caves and a Dargah is built in his memory.  Beautiful sculptures of Narasimha, Kartikeya, Ravana and Shiv Parvati are found in Kharosa, 45 km from Latur.  Famous for its unique feature of producing a very rare species of Ayurvedic plants is the Wadwal Nagnath Hill, 39 kms from Latur City.  Ayurvedic plants of rare species grow in the Uttara Nakshatra hence the hill is visited in the same period by the well known Ayurvedic practitioners from nearest states.
Dedicated to lord Shiva is the Mahadev temple, 26 kms from Latur city has a Shivling, statue of Devi Mahishasur and statues of different gods and goddesses on the sides.  Samadhi of Maharaj is in the Namanand Maharaj Ashram, 8 km from Latur city.  The area is attractive with the temple of Datta an island within the river.  Enshrines a magnificent Shivling is the Nilanga Temple, 50 km south-east of Latur.  Exquisitely garnished with human figures and geometrical design on the door, the temple is built in a star shaped architecture with projecting corners.  One of the most important towns of Latur city is Udgir which witnessed the war between the Marathas and the Nizam of Hyderabad.   Stands here in all its glory is the fort of Udgir, bounded by a 40 feet deep trench with some rare inscriptions written in Arabic and Persian. 
Latur, a good holiday destination that has an action filled past which is evident in and around the city!!!!!
