The
Gwalior fort:
The Gwalior fort is one of the magnificent
monuments in the city made of sand stone. It had been the place of several
historic events like battles imprisonments. A steep road towards the fort has
Jain statues carved on the rock. The outer wall of the fort is around two miles
long and around 35 feet high. It is considered as one of the impenetrable forts
in India. The Gujari mahal has a water preservation structure and designed to
get adequate water supply even during waterless dry periods. The interior of
the gujari mahal is an Archaeological museum. The suraj Kund is found within
the fort walls which are the pond which is said to have cures Suraj sen by
saint Swalipa. The pond is said to be older than the City.
The fort is also famous for the sound and
light show in the man mandir palace. This lighy show fills the place with red,
blue and golden light showing nook and corner of the palace. It narrates the
story about the pond and its curing values and story related to it.
There is an entry fee which is Rs.75/- for
Indian Adult and Rs.40/- for Child from India while it is charged Rs.250/- and
Rs.150/- for Foreign Adult and Child.
Telika
Mandir:
The Teli ka Mandir is another important
place to visit in Gwalior Tourism.
It dates back to 9th century with a tower of 100 ft height. This is a Vishnu
temple combining Dravidian and Indo- Aryan styles of architecture. Gurudwara
which was built in memory of Guru Hargobing Sahib who was the sixth Sikh Guru
was imprisoned by Jahangir for two years. During his release the Guru requested
for the release of 52 kings imprisoned along with him this impressed the
king.Scindia School is within the fort complex which is one of the finest
schools in India.
Jai
Vilas palace:
The Jai Vilas palace is one of the
important monuments in Gwalior Tourism.
There are around 35 rooms the Darbar hall is a notable one. The eye catching
treasure is the Silver train which served the guests on small rails on the
tables. There are silver utensils used by Aurangazeb and other kings.
Other
places to visit:
Tansen’s tomb, Tatya Tope and Jhansi Rani’s
memorial are important places to visit.

kolkota, Bengaluru, Pune and other cities. Gwalior is well connected by road to
other parts of Madhya Pradesh. How to
reach Gwalior is an easy question for people travelling by Air. Rajmata Vijya
Raje Scindia Vimantal is the Airport in Gwalior it has a Indian air force base.
It is connected to Mumbai, Bhopal, Indore and Jabalpur.
