How To Reach Kushinagar Of Kushinagar Tourism- A Place Known For Its Beautiful Temples And Stupas And Believed To Be One Of The Holy Places Of India


Cheap Air TicketsKushinagar is one of the major pilgrimage destinations and the storehouse of architectural marvels in Uttar Pradesh where Lord Buddha achieved salvation.  Enshrines a 6 metre long statue of the Buddha in Mahaparinirvana temple where the Buddha is found in the Parinirvana posture.  All the Stupas and Temples that has been excavated are believed to belong to the medieval period.  It is also believed the famous three Chinese scholars I-tsing, Huen Tsang and Fa Hien visited this place. Situated on the NH-28 the place is well-connected to all other major sites and Gorakhpur Junction is the nearest railway station.  The airport in Gorakhpur is the nearest airport, 45 kms away from Kushinagar.
A marble statue of Lord Shiva sitting in an erect posture on tiger flash cushion can be found in the Birla Hindu Temple.  This posture make it possible the communion of thou soul to thy soul.  The first Monastery built with many Buddhists temples inside it is the Myanmar Buddha Vihar and the temples are well equipped with beautiful metal statues of Lord Buddha.  Especially made for children, but still under construction is the Japanese Park which can be partially viewed as a rock garden.  Built by the Atago Isshin World Buddhist Cultural Association is the Indo-Japanese-Srilankan Temple at Kushinagar.  Brought from Japan the beautiful Ashta Dhatu statue of Lord Buddha can also be seen in this temple.  Showcased in the Buddha Museum is the 248 precious antiques related to coins, architectural remains and the bronze statues and sculptures, 1 km from Kushinagar bus stop.  Representing the zenith of the Gandhara School of Art is the Stucco statue of Lord Buddha in the meditation posture which is a superb specimen.  Chinese depiction of Buddha’s image can be seen in the Lin Sun Chinese Temple of Kushinagar.
Lord Buddha delivered his last sermon at Mathakaut Temple, hence a black stone image of Lord Buddha is discovered from this place.  This depicts that Buddha used to sit under the ‘Bodhi Tree’ in a ‘Kneel Down Posture’.   Artificial water bodies’ raise with lush-green platforms for meditation is the Meditation Park of Kushinagar.   A complete Buddhist atmosphere is experienced as the place is enveloped with forestations and Sal Trees, an ideal place for meditation.  Erected originally by the Mallas to enshrine the Buddha’s relics is Nirvana Stupa in the east of the Nirvana Temple.  Stands at a height of 2.74 meter, this
Stupa is believed to be enlarged by King Ashoka.  Dates back to the reign of Kumara Gupta I set in a leafy park is the Nirvana Temple. 6m reclining posture giant statue of the Buddha is surrounded by stupas erected by the pilgrims.  Referred to as Mukut-Bandhan Vihar, the Ramabhar Stupa is 1.5 km southeast of the Nirvana temple.  One of the most beautiful and most visited temples is the Watt Thai Temple built on an area of about 10 acres.
