A glimpse at Hassan and how to reach the place

The city was founded by the Hoysala dynasty during the 11th century and was named after the goddess “Hassanamba”. Thus, it is steeped in history and the temples and monuments, which are architectural wonders, are being looked after by Hassan Tourism. It has a pleasant climate, making it a favorable spot for vacations.

Shravanabelagola which falls under the Hassan district is one of the most famous pilgrims centers for Jains. Under the patronage and guidance of the Gangas of Talakad, this achieved architectural and artistic peaks. There is a 57 feet statue of Bahubali which is set to have been carved out of a single stone and is the largest in the world to be made out of one stone. Once in every 12 years, hundreds of devotees cover the statue in curd, saffron, ghee and milk. This beautiful ceremony is known as Mahakumbhabhisheka.
Another temple complex which is very famous for its architecture and sculptural majesty is Halebeedu. On the outer walls of the temple, scenes from Hindu epics like Ramayana and Mahabharata have been carved out in a way that is mesmerizing people even after all these centuries that have passed. Such is the perfection of the artists of that era.

How to reach Hassan?
Hassan is accessible from various parts of Karnataka, especially Bangalore, which connects very easily to many parts of India and abroad. From the railway station present in the city, you can get connecting trains to almost all cities in India. It is directly connected to Hubli, Delhi, Mumbai and other important cities. Via air travel, the closest airport is at Bangalore. Apart from railways and flights, there are a lot of buses promoted by the Hassan tourism which ply to Hassan.
