Easy ways to reach the Exotic Town of Mathura, Uttar Pradesh

The is located around 50 km from Agra and 145 km from the south east side of Delhi while it's only 11 km from the town of Vrindavan & 22 km from the town of Guardian. The town is the administrative hub of the district of Mathura. Since time immemorial Mathura had been economical hub, which is situated at junction of caravan routes of importance.

The place is of immense mythological importance as per Hindu Holy Scripture; it is birthplace of Lord Krishna at center of Brij bhoomi or Braj and is known as Shri Krishna Janma Bhoomi. The temple of Keshav Dev was been built at ancient times on the place of Lord Krishna's legendary birth place i.e. underground prison. According to Bhagavata Purana and Mahabhrata, Mathura was capital of the kingdom of Surasens ruled by King Kansa, Krishna's maternal uncle.

By Roadways:

Mathura is very well connected to rest of India and UP. NH-2 (Delhi to Howrah) Highway passes via this city & connects to the NH-3 which heads to Mumbai and a portion of this is known to be Mathura Road. NH-11(Agra- Bikaner) and NH-93 to Moradabad are important roadways connecting Mathura. Yamuna Expressway also gives connectivity to the city.

Mathura tourism serves this city with different bus services such as JNNURAM, UPSRTC, Haryana, Rajasthan, MP, Chandigarh, Punjab and DTC state transportation companies.  UPSRTC (Uttar Pradesh state bus company) runs Mathura depot which provides 120 buses. Direct transport are available till Indore, Alwar, Gwalior, Bhopal, Jaipur, Ajmer, Jaipur, Delhi, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Kanpur, Haridwar, Meerut, Rota & other Indian towns n cities. JNNURM of Mathura tourism provides inter city bus service. .

By Air:

Till now the city doesn’t have any airport. Ajit Singh the city aviation minister suggested this place for a green field airport to CM of UP, Mr. Akhilesh Yadav. After the project of the airport in Greater Noida got terminated this proposition came into picture. Land had been taken and work is in progress expectedly to get operative in coming 5 years. The nearest airport from Mathura is Delhi and Lucknow. As of now the city does not have an airport.
How to reach Mathura by trains:

Mathura is well-connected by railways from all major cities of India as for e.g. New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Indore, Hyderabad, Alwar, Bhopal, Jaipur, Gwalior, Ujjain, Jabalpur, Rewa, Kanpur, Lucknow, Varanasi and etc. This town is served by 4 stations, the major been Mathura which connects to North, South and Western India while Mathura Cantt links to east UP. Bhuteshwar is for the local trains of Delhi, NCR, Agra, Alwar and Bharat. While Krishna janmabhoomi provides rail buses to Vrindavan.
