The most nearest railway stations to connect this hill station is Neral which is around a distance of 11 km from Matheran. Matheran has its own slim gauge track railway station in the town centre.

The taxi would drop one till the entrance of the hill station this place is known as Dasturi Naka. From here one can take a horse which will cost around 300 rupees if does not want to go by foot.
